The Dodge County High Indian baseball team won three games over three big rivals last week as they defeated Dublin, Telfair County and Bleckley County. The three wins improve the Indians to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the sub-region. The Indians have won four in a row and five of their last six games. Dodge is currently tied for first in the sub-region with Toombs County who is also 4-0 and 13-1 overall. These two are scheduled to meet in Lyons on Tuesday, March 30.
On Tuesday, March 23, Dodge traveled to Dublin to take on the Irish and defeated them, 8-5. Brandon Beck was the winning pitcher. Beck faced 21 batters in four and two thirds innings, allowing three earned runs, three hits, one walk while striking out five and walking two. Christian Miller pitched one and one third inning facing six batters and allowing three hits and one earned run. Clint Taylor picked up his first save of the year as pitched one inning, facing five batters, allowing no runs, walked two and had three strikeouts.
Leading the Indians at the plate were: Herschel Anderson was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and a walk and two runs scored.; Christian Miller was 3-for-3 with a double, walk, an RBI, one run scored and a stolen base; Jo Jo Harrison was 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run scored and a stolen base; Brady Blalock was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases; Brandon Beck was 1-for-4 including a double and an RBI; Clint Taylor was 1-for-4 including a double and a run scored; Trent Mitchell was 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a sacrifice; Jordan Smith was 1-for-2 including a double, an RBI, a run scored and two sacrifices; Cole Evans scored a run, walked and stole one base.
