Your foreign aid dollars in action: The Arab daily Al-Watan said back in 2002 Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat took a $ 5.1 million U.S. foreign aid payment intended for needy Palestinians and deposited it into his personal bank account. Foreign aid is illegal spending, not authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
Climate alarmists conjured a world where nothing was certain but death, taxes and catastrophic global warming. They used this presumed scientific certainty as a bludgeon against the skeptics they deemed “deniers,” a word meant to have the noxious whiff of Holocaust denial. [Full Story »]

“Getting in the game”
Editor,
Many young people report feeling pressure to have sex (or to start “getting in the game” as some of them call it), especially on certain occasions, such as an anniversary or Valentine’s Day. Sixteen-year-old Mark started dating Marci in seventh grade. By the start of eighth grade they were having oral sex, and on Valentine’s Day in the ninth grade they had intercourse for the first time.
That the onset of puberty brings with it a heightened awareness of sexual feelings and increased likelihood of sexual contact is nothing new. But with puberty beginning earlier, sexual behavior with consequences may begin younger. [Full Story »]

The potent tea party
A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
No one has vested more hope in the tea-party movement than the Democrats. For all the scorn and abuse they’ve heaped on the tea-partiers, they’ve counted on them for salvation. [Full Story »]

We too need to go to prison
Dear Editor,
If a mind is a terrible thing to waste, then a terrible mind is a good thing to waste?
Wonder when such a great nation such as America will stop insulting itself and start to face reality. [Full Story »]

Thoughts From The Right Side

The great Joe Sobran is back writing again (sobran.com), with a new February 6 column.
Liberals try to claim the Republicans are controlled by extremists and are supposedly getting worse. They always say this when Republicans start winning again. Actually the party started to lose its way when it moved away from Reagan conservatism and into Bush “me-too” liberalism - both presidents Bush.
You see the results - “moderate” Republicans are losers in November. [Full Story »]

The budget poseur
A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
President Barack Obama is a budgetary Don Quixote, with Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag his enabling sidekick Sancho Panza.
Obama has donned his armor and picked up his lance to wage a thoroughly imaginary battle for fiscal restraint. He betrays not the slightest sign that his self-styled brave, tightfisted responsibility -- slaying wasteful programs and freezing spending all around him -- is all a dream. [Full Story »]

Help raise tipped worker minimum wages
Editor,
As a long-time food service worker, I know how difficult it can be to survive on tips. I remember working at a place where the minimum wage was $5.15/hr and no one could get full-time hours because the employer did not want to offer health benefits. [Full Story »]
