A Little Common Sense

Janet Napolitano is impressed with Janet Napolitano’s work. In an instantly notorious statement on CNN, the Homeland Security secretary said “the system worked” when a man boarded a Christmas Day flight from Amsterdam to Detroit with explosives in his underwear that he couldn’t quite manage to ignite.
Does “the system” count on all explosive devices smuggled onto international flights not detonating? When Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab set himself on fire while trying to blow up the plane and kill its 278 passengers, a Dutch filmmaker leapt on him, ripped a smoldering object from near his crotch and put it out with his bare hands. Or as Napolitano put it, “Everybody played an important role here.” [Full Story »]

How much money has the Obama white house spent in one year in office? We still have severe unemployment, a sick economy and nothing is getting better any time soon. Starting in January all of us will be paying more taxes to pay for this health care coverage or non-coverage. Now I don’t consider myself the brightest light in the forest, but I do know that if you want to get people spending money and creating jobs, people have to have some money to spend. You don’t tax people to death when you have an economy like we have now. You lower taxes on people and businesses and hopefully people will spend the money which will create a demand for goods which will lead to more jobs. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County High Squaws basketball team improved their record to 10-0 on the season as they defeated Wayne County and Jeff Davis to finish out the Jeff Davis Holiday Tournament last week and take the tournament championship for the fourth year row. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Indians basketball team lost their final two games of the Jeff Davis Holiday tournament. The Indians lost AAAA Wayne County 68-51 on Tuesday, December 29 and then lost at the buzzer on Wednesday, December 30 to Jeff Davis, 56-53. The Indians are now 5-5 on the season and 1-1 in the sub region.
On Tuesday against Wayne County the Indians trailed the Yellow Jackets 12-7. Eric Bruemmer led the Indians in the quarter with a three-pointer. The Indians led by four points midway through the second quarter but Wayne County took a 25-20 lead into halftime. [Full Story »]
