Shirley Ikedionwu was elected to serve as chairman of the Dodge County School Board by a 5-2 vote at the first meeting of the school board in 2010. Board member Kim Sheffield nominated Ikedionwu and board member Rocky Stuckey nominated Dougie Martin for the position. When superintendent Dr. Darrel May called for the vote, board members Sheffield, Ikedionwu, Betsy Thomas, Neil Spradley and Chuck Parkerson voted for Ikedionwu and board members Martin and Stuckey voted for Martin. New cars arrive [Full Story »] 

The Dodge County sheriff’s office has implemented a fuel fleet management program. Sheriff Jeff Hinson implemented the program on January 1, 2010 to coincide with Dodge County’s fiscal budget year. Deputies and jailors have been using the program for over two weeks now with great results. Sheriff Hinson says the program should save Dodge County taxpayers money through discounts and allow greater oversight and controls to fuel purchases. [Full Story »]

The fifth ranked Dodge County High Squaws basketball team won two of three games last week. They defeated sub region foes Dublin and Toombs County and lost to the third ranked Lucy Laney Lady Wildcats in a region cross over game.
The Squaws traveled to Dublin on Tuesday, January 12 and defeated the Lady Irish, 66-31. Dodge hosted Toombs County on Friday, January 15 and defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 56-18 and then hosted the third ranked Laney Wildcats (14-1) on Saturday, January 16 and lost in hard fought game by a score of 42-48. The Dodge County High Indians basketball team won one of three games last week as they lost to two state ranked teams. The Indians lost to seventh ranked Dublin (13-2), 44-35 on Tuesday, January, 12 in Dublin and to fourth ranked Laney (16-1) 85-57 on Saturday, January 16. The Indians avenged an earlier sub region loss to Toombs County on Friday, January 15 by defeating the Bulldogs, 57-39. The Indians are now 6-10 overall and 2-4 in the sub region. [Full Story »]
