Dodge County Deputies spent most of Sunday morning, January 24, searching for a gunman in the woods around Sycamore Drive and Jim Pruett Road areas. Deputies were called to a residence on Sycamore Drive to a domestic violence call. A male subject fled the residence with a shotgun and discharged the gun while in the woods. Dodge Correctional Institute’s K-9 Unit responded to assist deputies in their search for the gunman. Deputies and the K-9 Unit later safely located the individual. Deputies arrested Scott Allen Souza (age 38) of Eastman, and charged him with domestic battery, reckless conduct and obstruction. [Full Story »]

The United States has sent $46,000,000,000 (that’s 46 billion bucks) in foreign aid to Haiti in the last 35 years. What good has it done Haitians and us? It has been siphoned off by corrupt politicians while doing nothing for the nation’s problems. Not only that, foreign aid is all illegal spending, not authorized by the U.S. Constitution. Most politicians of both parties vote for this madness. Larry McDonald and Ron Paul, two of the best, never voted for a penny of foreign aid. They knew the Constitution. All the great and good should be expected to recoil from such a grubby sentiment. If it weren’t for the fact that President Barack Obama has made the line the centerpiece of his call for a new tax on banks. A year into his presidency, Obama is attempting a brazen misdirection. [Full Story »]

There will be some new names on the ballot for the House of Representatives 8th District. Three of those names made a visit to city hall recently. The group that gathered was small in number so access to the candidates was easy and everyone lingered after the meeting to conversation.
