Grappling Indians battle against Vidalia, Jeff-Davis

The grappling Indians kicked off their third season on the mat by hosting a tri-match at home. Taking on the Vidalia Indians and the Jeff-Davis Yellow Jackets in front of a packed crowd at the new wrestling gym, spectators were treated to a night of very aggressive and exciting wrestling. CORRECTION
There is a picture of an accident on the front page of The Dodge County News' print edition this week (December 16) that stated the driver of the vehicle that hit a school bus died of injuries he received in the accident. The driver, William Cockrell Moore, did not die. He was treated and has been released from the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. We regret and apologize for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused.

Eastman police officers have been very busy over the past week working several cases.
On December 10, 2009 officers responded to an armed robbery at the Hop-In on Oak Street. The clerk stated that two black males wearing ski masks robbed him at gunpoint and fled the area on foot. [Full Story »]

Alcoa helps toy drive

Alcoa partnered with the Eastman Fire Department to assist with the 2009 Toy Drive Event. Due to Alcoa’s volunteer efforts, the fire department received a $1,500.00 Action Grant, which was awarded from the Alcoa Foundation. The fire department used this $1,500.00 to purchase additional toys in support of the toy drive. Many other local businesses, churches and individuals in Dodge County also provided toys for the community-wide toy drive. [Full Story »]
