Thoughts From The Right Side

The U.S. Navy Color Guard sent to the 2009 World Series didn’t look to be representative of the academy, claimed the Annapolis commander. It had too many white males, a shameful result they figured, so it was altered in the name of diversity. It was expanded from six to eight members to achieve the desired result. I wonder also if they had any Presbyterians and Lutherans in the group, but the article didn’t say.
As Laura Ingraham says “merit should rule in the military.” Diversity is being pushed at the military academies by two-tier admissions standards. They’re getting in line with other schools.

The most boring man
A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
Barack Obama’s vibe used to be a cross between JFK and Beatlemania. Now it’s fading into “Oh, him again?”
There’s nothing wrong with a boring politician. But Obama isn’t becoming boring in a stolid, dependable Angela Merkel kind of way. He’s not boring like a mannerly George H.W. Bush or a thoughtful Bill Bradley. He’s boring like yesterday’s celebrity.
He’s the teen heartthrob who’s grown a little too old. He’s the star from “The Real World Denver” -- three years ago. The cruel vicissitudes of the celebrity culture apply to everyone. [Full Story »]

Contrast difference
Dear Editor,
For many years the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans was the Democrats claimed that they were for the working people and the Republicans was for the large corporations. The Democrats claim that they were for civil rights and the poor and the Republicans were for the wealthy. But if you look at the real facts, it was a Republican that abolished slavery in America.
It was a Republican that sent troops into Little Rock, Arkansas in the mid-1950s to up hold civil rights of the minorities. It was a Democrat that stood on the steps of the University of Alabama in 1961 that was refusing to allow a black person to enroll in the school. It was the Republicans that president Johnson relied on to pass the Civil Rights bill in 1964. [Full Story »]

Merry Christmas
Thoughts From The Right Side
By Marshall Miller
“Go ahead - ‘Happy Holidays’ me and I’ll ‘Merry Christmas’ you right back.”
Lyn Nofziger (1924-2006)
former top aide to Ronald Reagan
You must keep in mind - there are no conservative Democrats in Congress. None ever talk about the party being out of touch with America or of changing to the Republican party. They vote the way their masters Obama, Pelosi and Reid tell them to. The OPR tandem controls them. The last conservative Democrat was Dr. Larry McDonald, a great American. Nobody controlled him. Larry McDonald voted with the U.S. Constitution. He was murdered by the Soviet Union in 1983. Remember? That event has been downplayed by big media over the years. [Full Story »]

Foster entrepreneurship
A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
The White House didn’t invite the firms that will create new jobs to its “job summit” -- dominated by the CEOs of big firms, Ivy League economists and union officials -- because they weren’t available. Many of them don’t even exist yet.
Our economic gospel says that small businesses create most jobs, although size doesn’t matter as much as age. In a new study on job creation, the Kauffman Foundation found that “from 1980-2005, nearly all net job creation in the United States occurred in firms less than five years old.” [Full Story »]

Grounds for impeachment
Dear Editor,
Folks, we will have had a complete change of our system of government if this healthcare bill passes without a shot being fired. With the passage of the healthcare bill we will have gone from a capitalist system to a socialist system with the people fighting it all the way and government not listening to the people. Christ at Christmas
Dear Editor,
Our most merciful and Holy Father, You have blessed us to be born to live in one of the greatest nations that has ever existed. Yet, this nation, like others before it, has become so sinful. Once upon a time America was one of the greatest nations. There was a time when a handshake promise of her citizens was as good as gold. America is falling to her knees because she has become so sinful. [Full Story »]

A hole in one
Thoughts From The Right Side

Martha Zoller has moved her radio show to 103.7 FM in Gainesville, Georgia, on the air 9-11 a.m., after 15 years at the old station. I live close enough to pick it up on a radio in the house or car with the clearer FM signal, but you can listen anywhere on the Internet (marthazoller.com). Someone called her the Velvet Hammer. She’s very nice, polite, also talented and well informed. Martha is married to a doctor and is very checked out on medical issues.
Tiger Woods’ doctor has prescribed bed rest for the golfer. The doctor told Mr. Woods to stay out of bed and get plenty of rest.
Mrs. Woods went “night clubbing” at 2:30 a.m., picking up the nearest object at hand on the night of the famous Escalade escapade, a golf club. It’s good that her husband wasn’t a professional javelin thrower or rifleman instead. [Full Story »]

Climate of doom
A Little Common Sense
By Rich Lowry
The phrase “doomsday cult” entered our collective vocabulary after John Lofland published his 1966 study, “Doomsday Cult: A Study of Conversion, Proselytization, and Maintenance of Faith.” Lofland wrote about the Unification Church. His subject could almost as easily have been the Church of Warmism.
Its college of cardinals gathered in Copenhagen amid professions of an imminent global apocalypse that allow no room for doubt or deviation. “The clock has ticked down to zero,” declared U.N. climate chief Yvo de Boer. Yes, the end is nigh, just as surely as when the Millerites gathered on Oct. 22, 1844, to witness the Second Coming, only to comfort themselves at the end of the night, “Well, maybe next year.” [Full Story »]
