“This is a circus.” That was one of the comments made by a member of the Eastman City Council’s audience at their two hour meeting on Monday night just before the meeting adjourned. After running through the agenda in approximately 30 minutes, councilman Buddy Pittman stated that in the past several months, there were a large number of (Eastman) citizens expressing anger over what is going on at the city (unpaid water bills, business licenses, taxes and insurance fees). Deputies continue solving burglaries

Dodge County Sheriff’s investigators continue to solve burglaries and thefts throughout the county. Investigators, in the last week, have arrested Alex Cole Hilliard (age 17) of Rhine. Hilliard has been charged in connection with a burglary that occurred at Stuckey Auto Sales located in Rhine. [Full Story »]

An investigator from the office is scheduled to be in Eastman from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. November 13, 2009 at the county commissioner’s office. At the Eastman City Council meeting held on November 9, 2009, Buddy Pittman, of the Eastman City Council, made an attempt to provide for a local ethics ordinance to govern our locally elected city officials. Dear Editor,
Are you as tired of the wrangling in Washington as I am? This country is supposed to be for the people, by the people and of the people, yet the people are being completely ignored by this administration. Everything is what they want, not what we, the people, want or don’t want. To be completely frank about the health care situation, they are spending a lot of money to ram this down our throats and it is not constitutional. Nowhere in the Constitution does Congress, the president or anybody have the right to make us take out insurance. Nor does the Constitution give the government the right to go into the insurance business, the auto industry or the banking business. [Full Story »]
