The Dodge County High Lady Indians softball team won two of three games last week. They lost to Bleckley County on Tuesday, September 22 in a close 3-2 game. They defeated Dublin 14-0 on Wednesday, September 23 and Toombs County 7-4 on Thursday, September 24. The Lady Indians are now 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the sub-region. Dodge is in third place in the 3AA-B Sub-region and will finish the regular season with two games this week against non-region foe Telfair County on Monday, September 28 and will travel to Toombs County on Tuesday, September 29 for the final sub-region game of the regular season. The Region 3AA tournament will begin Saturday, October 3 in Swainsboro. [Full Story »] 

The Dodge County Middle School (DCMS) Lady Warriors became region champions Saturday after winning two hard fought battles. [Full Story »] 

Joseph D. Newman, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, announced recently the unsealing of a six-count criminal indictment against former Dodge County Sheriff Michael Lawton Douglas, Jr., age 37, of Eastman; Olin Norman Gibson, a/k/a “Bobo,” age 43, of Helena and Thedy Deneen McLeod, a/k/a “Deneen Gordon,” age 43, of Eastman. The Eastman/Dodge County Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Judy Hemphill Madden will be serving as the new President/CEO/Economic Developer for Dodge County.
Madden is the daughter of the late Eugene and Lillian Hemphill. She is a graduate of Dodge County High School and went on to attend Middle Georgia College and Georgia State University in Atlanta. While living in Atlanta,she served eight years on staff for Governor George Busbee. [Full Story »]

The Dodge County Emergency Medical Services’ (EMS) new ambulance was purchased with grant funds of $71,428.57 from the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission, with the remaining balance being paid from the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax fund. [Full Story »]
