Dodge County sheriff’s investigators have solved an old burglary case based on a latent fingerprint left at the residence which was burglarized last year on Old Dodge High Road. Investigators lifted the print from the crime scene and submitted it to the State Crime Lab. Investigators recently received a positive match on the fingerprint from the crime lab. Subsequently, Charlie Mann, Jr., (age 71), of Eastman, was arrested in connection with the case. Mann was charged with burglary on August 1.
Sheriff’s investigators arrested two Cochran men last week in connection with the alleged theft of parts from vehicles recently at Johnson’s Recycling on the Hawkinsville Highway. Investigators have charged Marquis Ahmad Brazil (age 20), and Stacey Darnel Blackshear (age 24), both with theft by taking in connection with the case.
On Friday August 12, sheriff’s investigators arrested Jimmie Lee Wimberly (62), of Eastman. Wimberly is charged with two counts of felony theft by taking. Investigators allege that Wimberly stole air conditioners and other items from the storage buildings located on Bill Hambrick Road, just outside of Eastman.
On Monday August 15, sheriff’s investigators arrested Nancy Champion (age 39), of Eastman. Champion has been charged with forgery by the sheriff’s office. Champion allegedly forged a check belonging to a citizen on Fred Bohannon Road.
Patrol deputies received a call to a residence just outside of Eastman on the Dublin Highway on August 9. Deputies subsequently smelled marijuana coming from the residence. A search of the residence was conducted by the deputies in which a small amount of marijuana and marijuana smoking paraphernalia was recovered. Deputies have arrested Eric Gainus (age 20), of Eastman, and charged Gainus with possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.
Fredrick Holton (age 30), of Eastman, was arrested on August 1 in Laurens County on an outstanding arrest warrant from Dodge County. The arrest warrant was issued by Dodge County sheriff’s investigators after a search was conducted at Holton’s residence off of North Street in Eastman. Investigators of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Eastman Police Department conducted the search of Holton’s residence earlier this summer. Investigators recovered a semi-automatic pistol from the residence. Holton, who was not at the residence at the time, has been a fugitive since the search. Holton is charged with possession of firearm by a convicted felon by the sheriff’s office.
