Dodge County Sheriff’s deputies have taken Scott Ryan Harrington (age 20) of a Helena address, into custody. On Saturday morning around 5:30 a.m., Harrington allegedly entered the residence of a seventy-four (74) year old woman located on Helena Dirt Road just inside Dodge County, in an attempt to rob her. Harrington allegedly forcibly entered the screened porch area of the residence. An audible burglar alarm sounded as Harrington allegedly attempted to enter the dwelling part of the home. The alarm apparently scared the would-be robber off. Simultaneously, friends of Harrington flagged down a McRae Police officer and told the officer that Harrington was on the way to rob the senior citizen. Law enforcement officers from Dodge, Telfair, and Wheeler Counties searched the areas around the residence that morning but were unable to locate Harrington. Harrington turned himself into the Telfair County jail later in the day on Saturday. Dodge County deputies picked up Harrington and charged him with burglary. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Deputies are conferring with the district attorney’s office for additional charges against Harrington.

Dana Shawn Floyd (age 29), who was also charged with that burglary on Rogers Cemetery Road, is facing new charges. Floyd has been charged by investigators with theft by taking. Floyd allegedly stole some prescription medications from a subject on Lister Cemetery Road, according to Sheriff’s investigators.
Deputies have charged Tommy Ruark (age 20) and Ben Underwood (age 56) both of Eastman, with theft by taking. The two (2) allegedly stole some farm equipment out of a field on Rocky Springs Road and tried to sell the equipment for scrap metal.
