Dodge County Indian Clint Taylor was named 2011 GHSA Middle Georgia Baseball Player of the Year by The Telegraph on Monday, June 13.
Taylor was a dominate pitcher for the Indians this year with 12 wins in 14 starts. He had an earned run average of 1.21 with 70 strikeouts to 10 walks. At the plate, Taylor provided power and a consistent bat for the Indians as well.
He hit .583 with 10 homeruns, 10 doubles and 42 runs batted in. With these numbers, Taylor was only struck out five times during the season.
Taylor helped to lead the Indians to one of their best seasons, 20-9 and 10-2, in region play that included a region championship.
The Indians fell short in the “Sweet 16” round of the state playoffs to an Appling County team that made it to the final four.
