Deputies kept busy with traffic issues

Deputies were called to the Eastman-Dodge Recreation Department last Monday afternoon, April 25, to an altercation. The altercation was between a female and a male who were in a relationship, according to deputies. During the altercation, the male broke a cell phone belonging to the female.

The male half of the altercation left on foot from the recreation department. The male half called 911 stating the female kept trying to run over him with her vehicle. Eastman police officers stopped the female’s vehicle on Rogers Street. Deputies, while investigating the incident, discovered evidence that the female’s vehicle left the roadway multiple times onto the shoulder of the Dublin Highway and into the ditch, attempting to run over the male half of the dispute. The female was arrested in connection with the case. The female, Kimberly Roberts (age 24), of Byron, has been charged with aggravated assault by deputies.
Deputies received multiple complaints Friday night, April 22, into the early morning hours of Saturday, April 23, from residents in the north part of the county about four wheelers and a dirt bike racing up and down the roadways with the subjects hollering and causing disturbances.

Complaints were received from citizens on Roddy Road, Pine Level Church Road and Plainfield Road. Deputies located the subjects on Plainfield Road about 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Young men driving the vehicles ranged from age 15 to age 21. Deputies charged four (4) adults and two (2) juveniles in connection with the operation of the vehicles on public roadways. Deputies charged the various individuals with crimes ranging from DUI, being a minor in possession of alcohol, to operating vehicles without a license.

Sheriff’s investigators, with the help of the McRae Police Department, recovered a stolen four wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV) on April 29. The ATV had been stolen from property located on El Bethel Church Road between Chauncey and Milan. Investigators made an arrest in connection with the case. Investigators have charged Tommy Lee Riley (age 58), of Eastman, with felony theft by taking in connection with the case.
