The Dodge County High School soccer teams had games scheduled last week against East Laurens and Laney. Dodge hosted East Laurens on Tuesday, March 1 and the Lady Indians defeated them 6-0, while the Indians experienced a tough loss with a final score of 2-4.
Lady Indian Senior Adele Harrison scored three goals along with Shelby Haviland scoring two and freshman Brooke Best scored the other one. They were assisted by Claire Peacock who also played keeper, protecting a scoreless defensive game.
Lacie Kemp was injured and will be out the next game recovering along with Kendall Adcock who fractured her foot in the Jefferson County game. We patiently but anxiously await their return.
In the boys’ game it was Jacob Wilkerson who scored both goals assisted by Hunter Augins and Stephen Howell. Other players that attempted goals were Walt Turner and Jordan Cook. The team members learned that East Laurens plays a great defensive off-side trap that caused at least 12 turnovers. Taylor Howell, John Lee, Mark McDermitt, Walt Turner and Set Palmer played a great defensive game.
The Indian soccer teams were both scheduled to play Laney Friday night, but Laney called and forfeited the boys game so only the girls played.
The Lady Indians dominated the field on the offensive end winning with a score of 4-0.
It was Adele Harrison scoring three goals and Aja Murray’s kick towards the goal hitting one of their defensive players and accidently deflecting the ball into the net for a goal. They were assisted by Brooke Best and Shelby Haviland.
These wins take the lady Indian record to 3-3 and the boys 2-3.
The Dodge soccer teams will host Dublin on Tuesday, March 8, the girls play at 5:00 p.m. and the boys at 7:00 p.m.
The Lady Indians will travel to Treutlen on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:00 p.m. Before both teams return home to host Screven County on Friday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 pm. Please come show your support. Michal’s Deli is also supporting a soccer night Thursday March 10.
