Indians play tough in scrimmage game

Cole Evans led off for the Indians in the first with a double. Jo Jo Harrison scored Evans on a sacrifice the next at bat. The score remained 1-0 until the fifth inning.

Christian Miller come on in relief in the fourth inning to replace Taylor on the mound and gave up one hit, one walk and recorded two strikeouts in two innings of work. Brantley recorded their first run of the game after reaching first on a throwing error and a walk put two runners on. The next batter singled to score and tie the game 1-1.

Dodge started off the fifth with a single by Trent Mitchell who moved over to second on a wild pitch. Mitchell would later score on a bad throw to third on a pick-off attempt.

Aron Chick came on in the sixth to close out the game on the mound. The Indians scored again in the sixth after reaching on a walk and then a single by Clint Taylor to go up on Brantley 3-1.

Brantley scored twice in the seventh off two singles to tie the game up. Aron Chick finished with three strikeouts while giving up one walk and three hits.

The game finished in a tie with the Indians failing to go ahead in the last of the seventh. The Indians will officially open up their season on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Hazlehurst against Jeff Davis.
