A state prison inmate that was released a year early due to a clerical error is back in prison.

Amy Rogers Jones turned herself in to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department on Monday, February 7 at approximately 10:00 a.m.

She was then transported to Metro State Women’s Prison in Atlanta to finish serving the remander of a two year sentence she received for the death of four month old Jaci Rogers.

Jones reported to prison on January 5, 2010 to begin her sentence.

She was released after only one year due to the clerical error where a custodial report had a date of 1-5-09 rather than 1-5-10.

In January, Dodge County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Captain Tony Winborn stated, “It was just simple human error.

People commonly take several days after the change of a new year to write the correct date.

We are into the third full week of January and the sheriff’s office is still receiving money orders from inmate families which are dated 2010, even though it is 2011.”

Jones was scheduled to have a hearing in Dodge Superior Court on March 1, but she obviously waived that hearing.
Jones’ attorney contacted the Oconee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and made the necessary arrangements.

Did anyone see her being put in the prison transport van? Are the ones who wanted her returned to prison sure she is locked up? There have been so many loopholes in this case it makes me wonder. They might have sent her on a paid sunny vaction for two at our taxpayers expense.

2 years for killing a child . that coulnt be a black lady whoever the judge is need to be punished something is dirty with this situation. SHE KILLED AN INFANT CHILD ON PUPOSE. WHAT THE HELL WRONG WITH YOU JUDGE PEOPLE GETTING 10-15 YEARS FOR DRUG CHAREGES AND SHE GET TWO YEARS FOR KILLING/MURDER . YALL DAM POLITICS

Well jeez...the paper only comes out once every seven days...you ever stop to think that the people who decide what goes in the paper were making sure they had the correct info before publishing it? Sometimes that takes more than a day...for a weekly paper, I think getting the correct stories to print in eight days is doing a pretty good job.

Now, who is investigating all the so called clerical errors (it was not just the year) and what actions have been put into place to keep this from happening again?

That was real messed up that she only got 2 years for killing that baby, i agree if that was a black woman that killed that child she would have got life without parole. The system here in dodge county is so screwed up until it aint funny and thats so sad a innocent child life was worth 2 years, maybe the judge is in the click with the good old boys and this was her cousin.

It wasn't because she was 'White', it's because of the "who do I know and am related to and how much money does my family have".

Why do black people insist on making everything about color? Sometimes it's just WHO you are, not what color.

Just notice the difference between the 'moneyed' people and the rest of the crowd, it's NOT color, it's money. (guess that makes it about color, after all, the color green! ) lol
