The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) has determined the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal accident that occurred January 21 on Sweet Home Church Road.
The vehicle had been fleeing and attempting to elude a Milan Police officer who was pursuing the vehicle.
Troopers, along with the State Medical Examiners Office, have determined that Travis Johnson, of Eastman, who died in the crash, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Troopers secured arrest warrants on January 28 for Jireh Bernard Hills (age 34), of Eastman, the other occupant of the vehicle who was determined to be the driver.
Dodge County deputies arrested Hills on the warrants the same day and booked Hills into the Dodge County jail. Hills is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving under the influence (DUI), fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and a host of other traffic charges. Hill is awaiting a bond hearing from the Superior Court.
Dodge Sheriff’s investigators arrested Jalen Tyrese Bray (age 17) of Eastman on January 20. Bray is charged with two (2) counts of felony theft by taking of an automobile. Bray is alleged to have stolen two (2) vehicles from a residence off of Liberty Street in Eastman. Bray allegedly took the vehicles and had the vehicles crushed for money while the owners were out of town.
Robert Roberson, Jr. (age 48), of Eastman, was arrested by Dodge deputies on January 19, 2011 and charged with burglary. Roberson is alleged to have broken into a residence on Congo Lane in Eastman.
Joshua Simmons (age 19), of a Cochran address, was arrested by sheriff’s investigators on January 20. Simmons is charged with three (3) counts of burglary. Simmons is alleged to have broken into residences in the Dubois Community.
Jimmy Barnett (age 48), of a Helena address, was arrested on January 30. Barnett has been charged with first degree arson by the State Fire Marshall’s Office. Barnett is alleged to have burned a 2002 Freightliner south of Chauncey.
Dodge County deputies caught a man in the act of stealing scrap metal from property on Vilula Church Road last Wednesday January 26. Deputies have charged William Jenkins (age 53), of Rhine, with felony theft by taking in connection with the incident.
Sheriff’s investigators have arrested Vick Lamarqke Edwards (age 18), of Eastman. Edwards is charged with burglary. Edwards is alleged to have broken into a residence on Sanders Cemetery Road south of Chauncey.
Magi Malana Piccione (age 18), of Eastman, was arrested on January 24. Piccione is charged with theft by taking and possession of drug related objects. Piccione is alleged to have stolen some prescription medicines from a residence on Jessica Lane in Eastman.
