The City of Milan has installed and tested an outdoor weather siren.
McCranie Warning Systems of Rhine installed the siren. The city installed the siren for added protection during times of severe weather or tornadoes. The city urges everyone to not rely on this as your only source of information for weather related emergency, but tune in to local news along with purchasing an NOAA weather radio. The siren will be locally activated when the National Weather Service has issued warnings that directly affect Milan. The siren will have two tones, one for severe weather and the second for tornadoes. The system will be tested every Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for 15 seconds to insure proper working condition. There is an informational brochure available at Milan City Hall about the siren.
