Lady Indians beat Vidalia in extra innings, begin region three playoffs

The seventh ranked Dodge County High Lady Indians improved their record to 20-5 last week as they traveled to Vidalia and defeated them 8-5 in eight innings.

Ashton Holt also picked up her 20th win on the mound as she pitched all eight innings striking out 12 batters.

Leaders for the Dodge against Vidalia were: Adele Harrison was 1-for-4 including a sacrifice, 2 RBIs and a stolen base;

Jaye Hilliard was 2-for-5 including a double, an RBI, one run scored and one stolen base; Ashton Holt was 1-for-2 including a homerun, and an RBI

Caitlin Greer was 1-for-5; Brittany Sorrell was 2-for-4 including a double and two RBIs; Amitie Hussey was 1-for-4 including a double, an RBI and a run scored; Katie Selph was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base; Jamie Michael Jones was 1-for-4 with a run scored; Bridgette Coleman was 2-for-3 with a stolen base; Jayme Yearty was 1-for-1 including a double, one RBI and one run scored.

The Lady Indians had a total of 13 hits, three walks and no strikeouts offensively.

The Lady Indians will host Telfair County on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 for their last regular season game of the year. The game will start at 6:00 p.m. with all the seniors being honored before the game.

Dodge County finished as the number two team in sub-region B behind Bleckley County and will begin the Region 3AA playoffs this Thursday, September 30, 2010. They will host the number three team from the other side of the region in Jefferson County for a best of three series.

Thursday games in Eastman will be at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Game three will be at Jefferson County on Friday at 5:00 p.m. if necessary. The winner of this series will play at Screven County on Saturday, October 2, 2010 for another best of three series at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. with an “if” game Monday, October 4, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the opponent’s field.
