Neither was the public made aware of the complete facts such as planning, cost, construction and involvement of parties. (Note: During the commission meeting 09-20-10, the other commissioners acknowledged they were unaware of the status and conditions of the boat landing.)
County attorney John Harrington also acknowledged many improprieties including payments made by Mr. McCranie and county manager Kelly Bowen. County commissioner Carl Hosford openly apologized for the manner in which this situation was handled. As a result, the board of commissioners voted to suspend the work on this project until many of the issues could be investigated and resolved.
(Note: There has been $37,000.00 plus dollars that we know of, spent on this project without four commissioners’ involvement.) Apparently a lot of the decision making in this project has been done in private and in violation of the Sunshine Laws/Open Records.
I urge and encourage everyone to contact their respective commissioner as to information regarding this project.
Times are hard, money is tight and taxes are going up. We need people representing us to be professionally, ethically and legally upright as stewards of this county. These same people need to be held accountable for their illicit actions.
