Dodge falls to Swainsboro Tigers

Swainsboro then started their next drive on their 21 yard line for a long 13 play drive and scored on a 27-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-7 lead with 2:10 left in the second quarter. The Indians received the ensuing kickoff at the 50-yard line and attempted to move the ball down field before halftime as McNair’s passes to Honeycutt and Leonard Floyd moved them to the 28-yard line of Swainsboro before the Tigers intercepted an Indian pass to end the second quarter.
The Indian defense held the Tigers to three plays and a punt on the opening drive of the third quarter. Dodge then had to punt also on their next possession. The Tigers started their next drive on their 31-yard line and nine plays later scored on a 39 yard touchdown pass to take a 20-7 lead after they missed the extra point with 2:30 left in the third quarter.

Swainsboro scored again pretty quickly to open the fourth quarter on three-yard touchdown pass to take a 26-7 lead after they missed the extra point again. The Indians also scored in the fourth quarter as Derrick Rogers recovered a fumble and Dodge took over at the Swainsboro 20-yard line. Quarterback D’Eric McNair ran the ball 18 yards on the next play and then also ran the ball two yards for the touchdown.
The Indians gained seven first downs on 100 yards of passing offense in the game. Leaders for the Indians on offense were: Derik McNair who completed 10 of 17 passes for 100 yards passing. McNair completed an 18-yard touchdown pass and also scored on a two yard run for the Indians. Leonard Floyd caught four passes for 59 yards; Curtis Rushing caught two passes for 19 yards and one touchdown; Rhett Honeycutt caught two passes for 13 yards and Devon Simmons caught two passes for nine yards.

Defensively the Indians were lead by Kayton Johnson with 10 tackles and four assists; Leonard Floyd had eight tackles and two assists; Robert Jefferson had six tackles and two assists; Marquis Gordon had six tackles and one assist; Trenton Williams had five tackles and two assists; Marcus Brown had four tackles and four assists; Vossie Gooch had five tackles and one assist; Julious McCoy had five tackles; Cameron Howard had four tackles and one assist; Marvin Butler had two tackles and Walt Turner had one tackle and one assist.

The Indians are off this week but will travel to Jefferson County on October 1, 2010 with kick off set at 7:30 p.m. in Louisville.
