Dodge County Sheriff Jeff Hinson reports the sheriff’s office continues to put pressure on drug dealers in Dodge County by making arrests and seizing drug dealer assets.
On Friday afternoon, September 10, sheriff’s narcotic investigators served a search warrant at a residence off of Pine Street in Eastman between the Dodge County Middle School and the Boys and Girls Club.
Sheriff’s investigators seized a large quantity of prescription drugs, a quantity of cash, thirteen (13) firearms and several counterfeit bills on printer paper.

This is got Andy Griffith shaking his head and saying,oh no this cannot be happening in our little quiet town of Mayberry(Eastman). I came from a larger city to get away from crime like this but then I run right back into it after moving back to my hometown of Eastman. Thank God law enforecement is on the ball when it comes to keeping the resident who donot want to be involved in such activities safe. I always said in the larger cities that the crooks on the street has more firepower than the police dept and how I could tell that was by listening to the gunshots at midnight on News Years Eve. I pray there is no more firepower in this city but I do have faith in law enforcement that it will be taken out. Anyone that has knowledege of any should report it to authorities because they need our help if we want to stay safe. As I can see illegal weapons and drugs go hand in hand. I speak as a person who had to report such criminal activities in another much larger city than Eastman,I had to be a federal witness at one time and had to almost be put in the federal witness protection program but I knew how to protect myself by praying and God moved me to safety. One thing I learned from that was that even if you are not involved in such activity they can bring it into your neighborhood no matter where you live and as block watch captain I was not having that. Thanks again law enforcement for a job well done.

Sounds like you have an axe to grind. I don't think the current Sheriff's Office is a bunch or chronically unemployable people. You have a Sheriff who is retired from the State Patrol and has employed several other State retired workers who are from the community who are making a HUGE difference. They are very well educated with Master Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, etc. They are some of the BEST trained law enforcement in the area and the quality of their work is showing. They could go to work just about anywhere and name their salaries. True another drug dealer make take this one's place. But for this date- 1 went to jail, some drugs did not make the street, and some guns were taken out of this criminal's hands. Therefore, perhaps a life was saved.

If you think Eastman is such a s---hole then maybe you should leave and start a life where you can find a job. For one to have an Ak47 and a SKS assault rifle in their possesion is very much illegal in the eyes of the law, I don't know why someone would have one unless they are going to go out and do great harm to others. Hand guns are illegal unless you have a concealed weapon permit. Drug dealers are contributing to crime since there are no jobs here, I wonder how people are getting money to buy drugs. The ways I am told is by selling food stamps or paying with their government checks, prostitution and breaking into businesses, houses and cars to steal things from people who have things of value so items can be sold to feed this terrible habit. Kids are going hungry and being made homeless because foodstamps and gov. checks are being used the wrong way.(Everyone on foodstamps and sec.8 needs to be drug tested).Innoncent people get murdered because of dealers and addicts behavior. Aids is on the rise because of risky and illegal sexual activity. People are having to guard their personal possesions because they are afraid of some drug addict stealing from them. Drugs causes one to have no morals about themselves, they do things they would not usually do to get that next hit of drug. I than God for the Drug Task Force, Sherrif Dept. and City Police Dept. to take them down. I never have had and donot have at this time any pity toward those who say they have to deal drugs to make a living. As long as a person keep a drug dealing mentality then they will never make it in life. Some deal drugs so they can get a flashy souped up car with the rims that cost more than the car. They are not dealing to pay the rent or a light or water bill. Some deal so they can get that gold grill in their mouths or wear the bling bling which is the gold rings, watches or necklaces so don't tell me that drug dealing is neccessary to make a living. I have talked to people on that side of the fence so what I am saying came straight from them(in a larger city in another state). The country dealers here are just that, country and need to use their heads for more than a hat rack. Eastman is too small for them to think they will not get caught and when they do then they want to blame law enforcement for their downfall in reality they have no one to blame but themselves. Thank God I am seeing some addicts come into church services asking for the members to pray for them to overcome their addiction. I am praying for the addicts and the dealers, you seem to have wanted me to tell the truth about the situation and that I did to the best of my knowledge. Addicton is in all races it knows no respectable person. God Bless!

To Cherokee...you need to check up on your laws bc an ak47 and an sks is legal as long as its not fully automatic which they werent and were both purchased from a gun shop..and i DO have a concealed weapons permit..all the guns I had was legal. nor do I get food stamps or sell them and I surely dont prostitute...so next time you wanna leave any comments please check up on your laws before you do so.

YOU people make me want to throw up in my mouth, you post comments about people you dont even know under anonymous names such as CHEROKEE,OHBOAT and several other complete idiots,ak47s are not illegal!!and neither is an sks,the truth is your dads deer rifle is more powerful than either one, also i know kody rogers personally and he is and has been a firearms collector and does have proper permits to own these weapons and yes he did have a surveillance system which was installed a week ater his residence was broken into.but captain tony winborn didnt include that into the fairytale that he wrote about him in the paper, and the so called narcotics taken from mr rogers residence was prescription medication in the original container.so what you have here is a waste of taxpayers precious money in extreme economic times!they should put kodys trial on pay-per-view as a comedy,GOOD JOB DODGE COUNTY SHERIFFS INVESTIGATORS!!HUGE BUST!!HUGE SUCCESS!!WRITE SOMETHING TRUE AND STOP WASTING PRINTER PAPER!!GOOD LUCK KODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did not plead guilty he took a plea bargain and most of the charges were droppped. All he got was propation and a minimal fine. The states key piece of evidence, a supposed video recording, could not be displayed because of the narcotics investigators cheap equipment malfunctioned or did not exist in the first place. Hardly front page news. Mr. Rogers is in the same place and still free and probably enjoying having the upper hand on law enforcement. In my opinion, all this has done is turned a supposed criminal into a local celebrity and the way they made him look in the newspaper a modern day john gotti.
